William Morfoot Ltd Invests in Publicly Accessible Defibrillator

At William Morfoot Ltd, the safety and wellbeing of our employees, visitors, and the wider community remains a top priority. As part of our ongoing commitment to improving health and safety standards, we are pleased to announce the installation of a new publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at the entrance to our premises.

The decision to install the unit followed a review conducted by our Health & Safety Manager, who identified that there were currently no publicly accessible defibrillators within close proximity to our yard. Given the number of businesses operating in the immediate area, and the hundreds of people who work and travel through the locality each day, it was clear that providing access to this potentially life-saving equipment would bring a valuable benefit to both us and the wider community.

What is a Defibrillator?

A defibrillator, or AED, is a portable device used to help someone experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest. The unit analyses the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, delivers an electric shock to help restore a normal heartbeat. Modern AEDs are designed to be used by members of the public and provide clear, step-by-step voice instructions to guide users through the process.

Did You Know?

* Every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation can reduce a person’s chance of survival by up to 10% following a cardiac arrest.

* AEDs are designed so that they will only deliver a shock if it is medically required, making them extremely safe for public use.

* Research shows that early access to defibrillation can significantly increase survival rates for people suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.

To ensure the unit remains fully operational throughout the year, we have invested in a dedicated electrical supply to the cabinet. This allows the enclosure to maintain the equipment at its optimum operating temperature, ensuring it remains ready for use even during the coldest winter conditions.

This latest investment forms part of a wider strategy at William Morfoot Ltd to continuously improve health and safety across all areas of our business. While we hope the defibrillator is never needed, its presence provides reassurance that vital emergency equipment is available should the worst happen.
