with INDUSTRY-LEADING standards

Safety, compliance, and responsibility in every project

At William Morfoot Ltd, safety isn’t just a requirement—it’s a commitment that underpins everything we do. From large-scale civils infrastructure and cross-country utility routes to agricultural land drainage and conservation projects, we ensure that every project meets the highest standards of health & safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility. Our expertise extends beyond technical delivery—we work in collaboration with landowners, regulatory bodies, and conservation organisations to create solutions that protect people, land, and ecosystems for the long term.

The safe and responsible delivery of any project we are involved in is not an aspiration, it is an expectation.

Training & Staff Development

Training and staff development form a hugely important part of how we now operate as a business, ensuring that every member of our team has the right skills and confidence to work safely and compliantly. We provide structured training programmes covering health and safety legislation, site-specific procedures, and competency standards so that our workforce not only meets legal requirements but also understands best practice in risk management and safe working. Training is regularly updated and includes inductions for new starters, refresher courses and role-specific development to reflect changes in regulations and industry standards. This focus on ongoing development means our people have the knowledge they need to protect themselves, their colleagues and our clients’ projects, fostering a strong safety culture throughout the business.

Cutting-edge technology

Advanced Equipment and Safe systems of work for SAFER and COMPLIANT project delivery

Our investment in specialist machinery and technology ensures safe, efficient, and precise project execution.
GPS-guided trenchers and excavators - ensuring accuracy and reducing soil disruption, as well as eliminating the need to have staff working in close proximity around moving machinery to verify levels.
Human recognition software - in use on our machinery to provide visual and audible warnings to other site staff about moving equipment.
Low-ground-pressure machinery – protecting sensitive environments and agricultural land.
Fleet management and servicing records - using specialist software to log and manage all aspects of maintenance and inspections on our equipment.
Advanced buried services checks - undertaken from both a desktop and site perspective to keep site teams safe on all projects being delivered.

By using state-of-the-art equipment, we ensure that every project is delivered with minimal risk and maximum precision.

Technology Transformed

Technology DELIVERING PRECISION like NEVER BEFORE

GPS within the water management sector has been transformational in recent years with regard to accuracy and precision. As well as ensuring excavations occur precisely where they are required in terms of location coordinates, we can also ensure that precise depths are achieved. The technology has also helped significantly with health, safety and compliance, representing a major step forwards in the way in which we work.
All of our trenching equipment and excavators are fitted with built-in automated GPS technology. This means we can programme specific digital models into the hardware on the machines, and the machinery can then excavate trenches to exacting depths and gradients. Our excavators can also have earthworks models programmed in, so we can build ground levels or bunds to precise heights and profiles in a specific location. We have, for a long time, been early adopters of new technology, and we continue to uncover new working methods to embrace what is possible with this technology.

Enhancing SAFETY and COMPLIANCE

Safety, compliance, and responsibility in every project

Safety and compliance are at the heart of every William Morfoot project. Alongside robust policies and clear best practices, the team invests in advanced safety systems across all plant and equipment.

Newer machinery includes features such as human form recognition and a digital thumbs-up system, ensuring compliance with the most stringent site safety standards required by major clients and highly regulated sites.

Modern, well-maintained equipment is also a key part of this commitment. Unlike contractors who rely on outdated machinery, the fleet is kept up to date, clean and maintained to a high specification. This not only protects teams and sites, but also reinforces a reputation for quality and underpins a premium service.

Comprehensive analysis before work begins

Risk ASSESSMENT & Project PLANNING

Safety and compliance start before the first shovel hits the ground. Our detailed planning process includes:

Preliminary site surveys – mapping underground utilities, ditches, and watercourses

Topographical analysis – ensuring proper drainage gradients, water flow, and structural stability

Bespoke risk assessments – identifying potential hazards and implementing mitigation strategies

Clear project planning – aligning work schedules with landowner requirements, breeding seasons, and environmental factors

Our method statements and site-specific safety plans ensure smooth, risk-free operations from start to finish.

This business is committed to developing an industry leading culture of safety and compliance across all areas of our operations. Continuous reviewing and improving through regular and routine communication between both ourselves and our clients are allowing us to steadily continue to be the best that we can - year on year.
