Coldham Windfarm

In Cambridgeshire there are seven turbines generating in excess of 70 GW hours of electricity per year – enough to power 16,500 houses. The turbines are offsetting 26,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.

We were employed to install underground cabling and ductwork to link up the seven turbines and for the subsequent connection into the grid.

The work was completed using our specialist trenching machinery excavating narrow trenches and laying the cables as one continuous operation.

All cables were installed at depths of 1.4 metres with marker tiles also laid by us to protect the cables in the future.

We also installed additional telecommunications and water pipes while on site to service the operations unit which supports the turbines.

Our work was completed ahead of schedule and without mess on prime arable land in some challenging ground conditions in the middle of winter.
