Training, Development and NEBOSH success!
As a business, we deliver our projects within locations that have inherent risks present within them. Operating large machinery, undertaking excavations, working in and around water and also dealing regularly with buried and overhead services all come with their own set of risks. As a business, we work extremely hard to ensure that we are operating in the safest way possible at all times.
Obviously, we have had a fair bit of experience in understanding these risks as we have been trading since 1962! We have seen and learnt a huge amount over that period with regard to the way we do things. Common sense is a tremendous starting point and experience also counts for a huge amount. However, training and development of our team is considered a critical part of our operation as we endeavour to deliver our projects in the safest ways possible.
To help us with the requirement, we expect all of our staff to undergo regular training and development. This typically takes the form of using external instructors and assessors to train our team in the field of expertise we require help with. Areas like First Aid, Machine Operative certification, Cat and Genny courses and basic health and safety courses are all core qualifications and skills that we expect our teams on the ground to possess.
We also actively encourage our staff to attend training courses in other areas with our business regularly sending team members to attend training courses relating to best practice methods in the field of drainage and water management. Surveying courses and specialist mapping software training sessions are also undertaken by our team. And critically we also require our management team to attend safety courses geared around managing risks compliantly and safely with many of our team having IOSH training and accreditation attached to their skillset.
This month has seen many courses completed by different members of our team and in the last few days, we have just heard that our Environmental Projects manager, Chris Bielby has successfully obtained his NEBOSH certification. The NEBOSH course is a particular intensive course which offers globally recognised qualifications in health, safety and environmental management with the course being undertaken over several weeks. We now have 2 members of our team who are NEBOSH certified and we are actively looking to certify more team members in the future.
In a world where compliance and safety have never featured more prominently, our own requirements to look to ensure we all go home safely each and every day mirror these wider world expectations. Congratulations and well done to all our team on their ongoing successes in achieving these key qualifications!
