Crane have arrived at newly restored Peat Wetland site!
February 2025
We’ve had some exciting news from an environmental project we were working on only last month.
We were contracted by National Trust to undertake works at Tubney Fen (part of Wicken Fen nature Reserve, Cambridgeshire) as part of a peat restoration project. We installed two underground clay bunds and two water control structures, which will allow National Trust to hold more water on the site. As a result, the peat in the soil will stay wet and retain the CO2 stored in it. But in addition, the wetter conditions will create great habitat for a wide variety of wetland species – and they are already starting to see this happen.
A pair of very rare crane have been spotted using the site. These amazing birds are found in very few places in the UK, so this is a great success story for the project.
It’s been such a nature success story that it even made the BBC news – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqjvgwk55x9o
Our skill and expertise enabled us to deliver this project on time and within budget – and the works are already delivering considerable results for nature.
